Steve
McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave, one of the most awaited movies of the year, had
its premiere yesterday on a sneak preview at Telluride Film Festival. It
is the director’s third film and, like the two previous ones (Hunger, Shame),
it stars Michael Fassbender. This time Fassbender has the company of Brad Pitt,
Chiwetel
Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, Quvenzhane Wallis and Benedict Cumberbatch.
It narrates the true story
of Solomon Northup a black free man from New York who is kidnapped and sold into slavery and spends 12
years working on plantations in Louisiana.
Twelve
Years a Slave is a strong contender to the Oscars for best
picture, best director best actor, best supporting actor. The film will have
commercial release on October 18 in the US.
