Fantasporto 2018

The 38th runs February 19 to March 4 at Teatro Rivoli, Porto. This year's theme is The theme of this 38th edition, reflecting the worries of today’s world is Ethics- The boundaries of Science, Arts and the Cinema, with lectures and debates on the matter. 

It presents fantasy films, directors week, Orient Express (Asian Films) Portuguese Cinema.

Highlights include: Toho’s hero saga Ajin: Demi Human; Toni Venturi, A Comédia Divina; Joel Lamangan, Bhoy Intsik; Robin Aubert, Les Affamés; Glass Garden, Shin Su-won; Budapest Noir, Éva Gárdos; The Charmer, Milad Alami; November, Rainer Sarnet; Al Asleyeen- The Originals, Marwan Hamed; Chimera, Pappi Corsicato, Bikini Moon, Milcho Manchevski and Anna Karenina: Vronsky’s Story, Karen Shakhnazarov. 

Portuguese film will premiere Luís Diogo's Uma Vida Sublime, Fernando Vendrell's Aparição and Bernardo Lopes and Helder Faria's Doutores Palhaços.

KINO 2018 - German Language Film

The 15th KINO - German Language Film runs January 18-24 @ Cinema São Jorge, Goethe-Institut, Lisboa; 25-28  @Teatro Municipal Rivoli, Cinema Passos Manuel, Porto; February 14-16 @ Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, Coimbra. KINO has a main section and a documentary section - KINOdoc, as well as a family session and sessions for schools.

Lisboa's opening session will be Josef Hader's Wilde Maus (Wild Mouse), in Porto and Coimbra Andres Veiel's Beuys, a documentary about German artist Joseph Beuys.

CLOSE-UP – Observatório de Cinema de Famalicão: A Viagem runs 14-20 at Casa das Artes , Famalicão.

It includes 40 films, film-concerts, concerts and an exhibition.

IndieLisbioa 2017 runs 03-14 at, Cinema São Jorge, Culturgest, Cinema Ideal, Cinemateca, CineTeatro Capitólio.

The festival presents feature and short film in several sections, National & International Competition, Novíssimos, Silvestre, IndieJúnior, Herói Independente, Jem Cohen, Paul Vecchiali
IndieMusic, Director's Cut, Boca do Inferno and Special Sessions.

Monstra 2017

MONSTRA - Lisbon Animated Film Festival runs 16-26 at Cinema São Jorge, Cinema IDEAL, City Alvalade and Cinemateca Portuguesa-Museu do Cinema, Lisboa and it highlights Italian animation. 

Among others, Bruno Bozzetto, Luca Raffaelli, Andrea Martignoni, Enzo D'Alò, Giannalberto Bendazzi and Cosimo Miorelli will attend the festival, that opens with Gianluigi Toccafondo's work.

Other Italian directors work shown will be those of Bruno Bozzetto, Julia Gromskaya, Simone Massi and Enzo D'Alò.

Fantasporto 2017

Fantasporto 2017 runs 20-05 at Teatro Rivoli, Porto. The festival includes the following sections: Fantastic Film,
Directors Week, Orient Express, Fantas In Shorts, Portuguese Film Panorama, Premiere and Panorama and Retrospectives.


With more than 100 films to be exhibit, the Festival opens with The Age of Shadows by Jee-woon and closes with Through the Shadow by Walter Lima.

CÓRTEX 2017

Córtex - Festival de Curtas Metragens de Sintra runs 16-19 @ Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, Sintra.

The short film festival has a nacional and international competition; Hemisfério, dedicated to cultural difference and another type of reality; Mini-Cortex, for children, and will show Jane Campion earlier filmes, like Passionless Moments, A Girl's Own Story and After Hours.
